In light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, Translink has taken a range of actions to help prevent the spread of the virus and encourage and support people to stay at home.
Whilst Translink continues to provide vital bus and train services, ensuring that our essential workers can continue to travel and offer their much-needed help, it was important to quickly communicate to all passengers the changes to bus and train timetables and precautions they must take if they really need to get on board:
- adhering to social distancing advice and keeping 2 metres apart
- only travelling if it is absolutely essential, ensuring your hands are washed regularly
- using cashless payments where possible.
In recognition of the tireless and vital work of all health and social care workers in response to COVID-19, and as a token of thanks and support, Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon confirmed that bus and train journeys will be free for all these workers during the outbreak
As per the current government guidelines, the overarching message to everyone is clear: stay home, save lives.
