Paula Radcliffe tweeted that no sport “is more inclusive or easier to take up, and the health and social benefits of running are immeasurable.”

Here in the Ardmore community we have a small cohort of runners, ranging from the mightily impressive devotees to very keen amateurs. Each one of them can testify that there is nothing quite like putting on your trainers and heading out to pound the picturesque coastal paths.

On Monday 7th May, four of our keen amateurs entered the Belfast City Marathon relay, with one super eager beaver running the last two legs. And with a finishing time of 3 hours and 56 minutes, we couldn’t be prouder. So thank you to Mark I, Paul and Jamie who allowed me to corral them into giving up their Bank Holiday to run with me for Mencap.

And a special hats off to our mightily impressive devotee, Oran, who completed this marathon – his first to boot – in an incredible 3 hours and 32 minutes.
